I am from Holguin(Cuba) and I love it but I will never forget the first time I went to Havana in 2006. I was going to the capital of Cuba to participate in a contest and, well, it was Havana...so I was ecstatic! The city was big, exotic and I just couldn't help it... I fell in love and I have been in love ever since. The streets... the architecture... The people... The museums... The theaters... The churches... 23 y G... The Rampa... Haha! You're right! I was in Havana, Cuba. (la Habana, as they say here) Forbidden fruit to US citizens for 1/2 century, Havana does not disappoint one's senses and curiosity. Living in a new country and having a new life makes you long for your roots, makes you wonder you are going and where you are coming from. It is the way it works and I have read many stories about it. So the way I feel is only natural.

So, today, I miss Cuba.

I miss my mom.

I miss my sister.

I miss my newly born niece.

I miss my good friends.

The first Hackathon in Cuba has ended, but the adventure continues. Havana Cuba has got a vibe like no other place I have been. The people are positive, upbeat & want to learn and improve. The 48 hr. Hackathon in Havana exposed me to some of the coolest & smartest people I have ever met. The only thing holding Cuba back from a real force in the global economy is the poor WIFI (or as the Cubans call it WEE-FEE) connections. I could write an entire book on the dramatics I've had in just 3 days of trying to get [...]
